Derek Roland is a performer, teacher,
choreographer based out of NYC. His
professional credits include National Tours
of Kiss Me Kate (Bill Calhoun), Showboat,
Cinderella and Funny Girl, as well as the Italian
Tour of West Side Story (Pepe/fight captain). His NY
Credits include the NYC Tap Festival's 'Tap City' and the
ATDF'S Winter Tap Intensive, NY Fringe, NYMTF, 59E59
Theatres, York Theatre, American Theater of Actors,
Merkin Concert Hall, Actors Playground, Shakespeare's
Sonnets On Tap, and the Village Theater.
Derek has studied tap dancing with Roxane Butterfly,
Barbara Duffy, Randy Skinner, Derrick Grant, Ray
Hesselink, Max Pollack and many others. He regularly
attends tap jams in NYC, laying down iron with great artists
such as Savion Glover, Jason Samuels Smith, and Harold
"Stumpy" Cromer!
He is on faculty at Steps on Broadway and New Dance
Group, and has taught at Broadway Dance Center, as well
as Master Classes at University's and studios across the
US. Derek is also a performer/creator with Parallel Exit
Physical Theatre Company in NYC! (www.parallelexit.net)
They are currently developing a new tap show called
"Time Step!" A video promo will be available soon, so

Off Broadway Production of "The Play About
The Naked Guy" at the Baruch PAC, which
runs Feb 4th -March 2. Derek served as Asst.
Choreographer on the production, which was
choreographed by Ryan Kasprzak....
*Derek's NEW CLASS TIME for his Beg
Theater Tap class at New Dance Group will
start Wednesday Feb 4th, from 1:30-3:00.
