Derek sang in an evening of Keith Varney's music at the Laurie Beechman Theater on 42nd street in March, including the song "I'll Be Your Starter" (pictured at left) The song is from Elway The Musical, a new show about football which was Derek's original concept, being written by Keith and another good friend, Devon Goffman. Derek and "Parallel Exit" performed at the Lincoln Center Institute in November and December, bringing physical comedy, clowning and tap dancing to hundreds of children and their teachers! The staff at Licoln Center enjoyed our show so much, they kept coming back to see it again!

Derek has joined the creative team of "Jay Alan Zimmermans Incredibly Deaf Musical" for the 2010 New York Music Theater Festival! He will be Choreographing this fantastic new show, which opens its run September 30th at the Duke Theater on 42nd street! The show will be directed by Kristin McLaughlin and produced by Geoff Cohen. Parallel Exit will be performing our show "Exit Stage Left" at Lincoln Center in July! We last performed this show at the Festival Der Traume in Austria this past summer, jam packed with lots of physical comedy, silliness and tap dancing, and we're excited to bring it to New York! Derek is currently playing the role of Spats Palazzo, the tap dancing gangster, in "Sugar" the Some Like It Hot Musical! The production, directed by Charles Repole and starring Eric Santagata, Gary Lynch and Colleen Hawks, runs through July 3rd at the Westchester Broadway Theatre. The role was originated on Broadway in 1972 by one of Derek's tap idols, the great hoofer Steve Condos! Derek will be performing at the 21st annual Tap Extravaganza on Sunday May 30th, in honor of Randy Skinner, who will be receiving the Flo-Bert award for his contributions to the world of TAP! The boys from Parallel Exit will be performing an excerpt from "Time Step" with some special comedic surprises! Derek just completed a run of Westchester Broadway Theatre's production of 42nd Street, playing the role of Andy Lee! The production was Directed and Choreographed by 3 time TONY nominee Randy Skinner (who choreographed the Broadway Revival), along with Associate Choreographer Kelli Barclay. Derek was lucky enough to watch these two work previously during his Choreography Observancy with City Center's production of No No Nanette!

Derek is joining the faculty of "Dancers Rock!" Convention / Competition for their 2010 tour, and will be teaching for them in Nashville, Atlanta and Houston! Check out www.dancersrock.com for info on how to register...
Derek recently travelled to Austria with Parallel Exit Physical Theater to perfom in the Festival Der Traume!
